Property Showcase SlideshowProperty Description:

Seaview, located on Grindstone Neck, offers commanding southwesterly views of Frenchman’s Bay, Mount Desert, Heron and Flat Islands. Noted architect Lindley Johnson, a student of Ecole des Beaux- Arts in Paris, and a prominent Philadelphian architect, designed Seaview in 1891. As the company architect, Johnson designed more than 20 commissions on Grindstone Neck, including the Yacht Club, the Episcopal Church, and The Grindstone Inn. Seaview was commissioned by Spencer Ervin, a fellow Philadelphian, then three decades later sold to the Harper family of the Harper Publishing Company of New York. The property is comprised of 3.3 +/- acres. This shingle cottage, itself, is characterized by a blend of studied informality and understated elegance including a balustrade, coffered ceilings, a music room, porches, granite terrace and walled gardens.

Additional Comments:

There is a nine-hole golf course, tennis and swim clubs. The area boasts a wealth of seasonal activities including a private yacht club.
