As an end to our Open House Tour, The Knowles Company will be hosting a FREE public lecture by Tim Garrity, executive director of the Mount Desert Island Historical Society.

Overturning History: When the Real Story is more Interesting 

Mr. Garrity will talk about oft-told tales of Mount Desert Island that don't hold up to close inspection and what we learn when we ask the right questions.

Tim Garrity has been executive director of the Mount Desert Island Historical Society since 2010. He writes and presents widely on public history, especially on the hidden histories of Mount Desert Island. He serves as editor of Chebacco, the society's annual magazine. Before beginning a second career in public history, he worked for over thirty years in the healthcare field, first as a Hospital Corpsman in the Navy and finally as Chief Executive Officer of Blue Hill Memorial Hospital.
