Property Description:

Napier Cottage is one of the oldest homes in Southwest Harbor, and features the charm of high ceilings, hardwood floors and sun-drenched rooms with views of the harbor. It has been lovingly maintained, restored and enhanced over the years, and is furnished with oriental carpets and antiques, linens, a well-stocked gourmet kitchen, Wi-Fi connection, satellite TV, and many books, games and puzzles. The Cottage is situated on nearly an acre of land with lovely gardens, patio, wrap around decks and a screened, lighted gazebo. Southwest Harbor's village center is just a walk up the road, not to mention Beal's Lobster Pound right around the corner and near two Island Explorer bus stops, and the Cranberry Island Ferry. Glimpses of the harbor and its activities greet you from most windows, especially on the second floor. Come in June and enjoy the magnificent stands of lilacs, heirlooms from the garden of the owner's grandmother!

FIRST FLOOR: Entry leads into spacious Living Room with wood stove, large windows overlooking lawn and back deck. Lovely sun-drenched Dining Room with French doors leading to deck and table that seats six to eight. Sunny, informal Family and Media Room. Half Bath. Laundry closet. Kitchen with small pass-through to Living Room and fold-up table that seats two to three.

SECOND FLOOR: Full Bath with tub and shower. Bedroom with Double bed and filtered views of harbor. Bedroom with Twin beds and bay window overlooking filtered harbor views. Adorable Bedroom with bunk bed (Twin over a Double), plus a trundle under the double bed. This room is large enough for a pack-n-play, also available upon request. Spacious Master Bedroom with Queen bed and filtered water views and Private Full Bath with wonderful shower stall.

PORCH: Small porch leading into kitchen area. Large sunny back and side deck with grills and furnishings overlooking back yard and brick terrace area. Three-season Gazebo, and fenced in yard.

About this area:

Mt. Desert Island's second largest village, Southwest Harbor, features a charming Main Street with an appealing assortment of shops and restaurants. The neighboring village of Manset, which is along the southern shore of the harbor, tends to be rural in nature but features a number of excellent restaurants and boatyards, including Hinckley Yacht Yard and Morris Yachts, both of which boast an international reputation. If Bar Harbor is the 'gateway' to Acadia, Southwest Harbor is the gateway to Acadia's westside trails and attractions, including Seawall, Ship's Harbor, and Echo Lake, all between five and eight minutes from the village center.
