If the thought of relaxing on a front porch with a cup of coffee and the calls of loons, gulls, or a distant lobster boat appeals to you, then consider Ames Family South Cottage for your next visit to Maine. Wrapped in the warm history of generations of family gatherings, this rustic camp typifies a Maine getaway. Overlooking a sweeping grassy meadow that leads to picturesque Seal Cove, this cozy cottage enjoys direct access to a pleasant swimming area or put-in for your kayak. Don’t let the fact that Cape Road runs between you and the shore deter you – this sleepy little corner of Mt. Desert Island is rarely visited by those thronging nearby Acadia National Park or Bar Harbor. Peace and quiet abound, and once there, you’re likely to be content never to leave! However, if you do choose to explore Acadia’s trails, Southwest Harbor’s restaurants, and other offerings across the island, they’re only a short 15 to 25 minute drive from this sweet home. And did we mention sunsets? With westerly views, every evening is certain to produce an ever changing show!

We loved our two weeks at the Ames South Cottage. The views are incredible; sunsets are a delight and the stars are fantastic! The property is rustic, but totally comfortable. The camp has a warm family feel with lots of games, puzzles and books.
