Blueberries
Seal Harbor, ME 04675-
Beds: 5 Queens, 1 Sofa Bed
Perched high on Ox Hill, the site of this home was once the grounds of the Seal Harbor Tennis Club. A favorite stop for the genteel of Seal Harbor and the Cranberry Islands until 1926, users of the court would hang a blanket along a tall fence – visible as far away as the Cranberries – to let others know the court was in use! Today only the lovely blueberry meadow and the former tennis house turned guest house, 200 feet from the main house, serve as reminders of this relaxed era. And relaxed is how you’ll feel, such a stunning home to come back to after a visit to Acadia National Park or a day out on the water. With a mix of outdoor settings from sun, shade and open blueberry fields, and inside spaces with lofty rooms, sunny views and massive stone fireplaces, Blueberries has an air of relaxed elegance. It’s the perfect choice for those to whom relaxing and entertaining demand equal time!
MAIN HOUSE, FIRST FLOOR: Enter through French doors to a sunny and welcoming Foyer. From here access the back yard via another set of French doors, the Great Room with its Kitchen and Dining Areas flanked by two separate Living Areas, or pass through to the Bedroom Wing. The Great Room is awash in light from several sets of oversized French doors and boasts two showcase fireplaces, one on each end, with comfortable seating focused upon each one. A Mason and Hamlin Double B Grand Piano perched next to one fireplace further complements the space. Centered between these lovely areas one finds the high-end Kitchen, and the adjacent Dining Area with seating for up to 10. A spiral stair in this area leads to a lofted guest suite above. The Bedroom Wing on the first floor reminds one of simpler days. Understated yet elegant, two Bedrooms (one with a queen bed, the other with twin over double bed) share a Full Bath with tub and shower. A Laundry Area completes this wing, as well as a stair to the second floor Primary Bedroom.
MAIN HOUSE, SECOND FLOOR: Stairs from the Bedroom Wing lead up to the Primary Bedroom Suite with queen bed and Private Full Bath with tub and shower. French doors open to a small balcony at this level. Spiral stairs accessed via the Great Room lead to a lofted Guest Bedroom with queen bed, a crib, and a Half Bath.
TENNIS COTTAGE: Combined Living and Dining area with fireplace, upright piano. Breakfast area. Stacked washer/dryer. Primary Bedroom with queen bed. Bedroom with queen bed. Full Bath with tub and shower.
STUDIO: Newly built for 2022, the “Studio” features a small work space and studio with Queen-sized sleeper sofa.
OUTDOOR SPACES: Living and Dining areas from the Main House give directly on the playing field, a converted tennis court now delightfully used for badminton, volleyball and croquet. Outdoor furniture and propane grill in a semi-shaded grassy area. Sunny front lawn adjacent to blueberry field leading to Main House, and surrounding woods.

The village of Seal Harbor has many attributes, including proximity to Northeast and Bar Harbor, a lovely hillside overlooking the quiet harbor and a well-protected public beach. The community abuts Acadia National Park, a significant portion of which was donated by Seal Harbor resident John D. Rockefeller. The Park Loop Road, the Wildwood Riding Stables, historic Jordan Pond House, and the many carriage roads around Day Mountain, Little Long Pond, the Bubbles, and Jordan Pond, are all easily accessible from the village.
