Known as the ‘Gateway to Acadia,’ Trenton, Lamoine, Prospect Harbor and other mainland communities enjoy proximity to Mount Desert Island and Acadia National Park, with access to the expansive Union River Bay and Mt. Desert Narrows. Appreciated for being away from the crowds, this area is home to several local lobster pounds and close to Ellsworth dining. Many homes in this area enjoy spectacular views of Mt. Desert’s peaks, and swimming is generally warmer in the bay waters. Lamoine’s public sandy beach, Trenton Community Trails, Wild Acadia Fun Park, and the Stanwood Bird Sanctuary are just a few of its many attractions!
The place is very quiet and located near a beach within walking distance. We enjoyed the historic character of the house with a very well renovated interior and optimal use of the space. The kitchen was particularly well equipped. The rooms on the 2nd floor were comfortable and fortunately equipped with small fans to dissipate the heat. The place is located close enough to Acadia National Park (20-30 min.) where we went every day with our two small children. Our stay at this place was very nice.
