Bar Harbor’s village and surrounding rural residential areas are a popular destination for visitors to Acadia National Park. The town center offers diverse shops, restaurants and activities. Acadia National Park’s Hulls Cove entrance, as well as other major entrances, are located just outside the village center. Not all properties listed as ‘Bar Harbor’ are actually in the village of Bar Harbor, since the town of Bar Harbor encompasses the northern half of Mt. Desert Island, most of which is quite rural in nature. However, homes within this area are usually between five and fifteen minutes’ drive to the village center.
This is a wonderful house in a perfect location. We came with a 3-generation family group, ages 10-75. The kids loved the bunk beds and shared bath with their parents’ room. All the beds were very comfortable and the rooms and baths spacious. The plumbing was old but operational.
Best of all was the ocean view and firepit for sitting and s’mores. Despite problems with cars and COVID, we could all relax at the end of the day.
As others have noted, it is an easy walk to town and short drive to trails and carriage roads.
Absolutely wonderful. We had some stressful events in our trip (Covid, car troubles) but coming back to this relaxing setting always calmed us. Sitting in the yard watching the moon rise, making s’mores at the firepit — couldn’t be better. The house is clean, with a well-appointed kitchen and dated but functional bathrooms. Bedrooms were beyond spacious and beds were comfortable. Hosts were very responsive, albeit a bit grumpy about a Sunday evening call.
This home exceeded our expectations! The home itself is clean, comfortable, and well-stocked with kitchen necessities. There are two butlers pantries , so plenty of room for drinks, snacks etc. Loved not having to lug towels and linens, and the ones provided are good quality. The yard and views are the shining star of this property! Such a lovely place to sit and enjoy a book! There is plenty of outdoor seating on the lawn and the deck. The house is only a few blocks from town, and someone from our group brought back coffee from Chocolatte every morning. Highly recommend this rental!
We loved our stay at Devilstone cottage. The location was ideal! Close enough to walk everywhere but quiet enough to feel like a private retreat! The house was huge and beautiful and stocked with everything you could imagine needing. The gardens are stunning. The rental agency was super helpful and easy to work with giving us all the info we needed to have a great vacation in Bar Harbor.
Amazing location that is directly on the water (great views) and on the walking path to downtown. Inside the home it is well stocked with everything that your family would need to enjoy a vacation. We came with our 4 older children and we walked to dinners, to get coffee and ice cream, played horseshoes out back and just relaxed on the porches. Short drive to Acadia where we did some amazing hikes. We can’t wait to return!
