Situated at the crest of a meadowed hill that gently slopes to the water, Galley Point Cottage enjoys pretty views and access to peaceful Somes Cove on the “quiet side” of Mt. Desert Island. With bountiful wildlife and near complete privacy, this special house is perfect for those looking for peace and quiet, where the only interruptions to your afternoon read are the calls of gulls and loons in the distance. Looking for adventure? Acadia National Park major entrances are between 15 and 30 minutes away, as are the villages of Southwest Harbor, Northeast Harbor, and popular Bar Harbor. Another bonus: with its westerly views, this home enjoys gorgeous sunsets!

FIRST FLOOR: Enter through a mudroom with a “drop zone” for coats and boots plus a convenient laundry area to the galley style, well-equipped Kitchen. Combined Living and Dining area features floor to ceiling windows overlooking the meadow and cove beyond, a woodstove, comfortable seating, and dining table that seats four to six easily, and a door to a screened in porch (not pictured), perfect for buggy evenings or a way to escape the heat and sun. Two bedrooms, each with a set of bunk beds. Full Bath with combined walk-in shower stall.

SECOND FLOOR: Spiral staircase, which can be gated at both the top and bottom, leads to a lofted Primary Bedroom with King bed and views out to the water.

OUTDOOR SPACES: Door from the Living area leads to a furnished Deck across the front of the house with views across the surround meadow to the water. Follow the dirt road, which serves as the driveway to the family house at the end of the point, to a short path and staircase leading to the shore.

NOTE: Although serving as a guest cottage to the larger family compound on the property, this home enjoys a nice sense of privacy. Likewise, Tenants are respectfully asked to limit their outdoor “exploring” to the area immediately surrounding the property. The owner’s caretaker and gardener are likely to be seen accessing the grounds from time to time.
