We loved our stay at Goodson Cottage; much so that it was difficult to leave! There is pride in ownership!
The access to Seal Cove Pond was amazing! And the view of Bernard Mountain from the dock was beautiful! We really enjoyed use of the canoe and kayaks! There were plenty of life jackets available. We also fished off the dock and caught quite a few sun fish and perch one morning. We loved hearing and seeing the loons out on Seal Cove Pond.
The beds and sofas were comfortable. We enjoyed being on the quiet (western) side of the island. We had everything we needed in the kitchen and bathroom.
The cottage was clean and well-kempt.
There are hair dryers in the bathrooms. We weren’t sure if there’d be any, so we did pack one.
We loved utilizing the games and puzzles on hand, especially checkers!
It’s about a 20-25 min drive to Acadia/Bar Harbor from the cottage; we didn’t mind the scenic drive to the park.
We’d love to stay here again in the future and would recommend Goodson Cottage to family and friends!
Had a great week at Goodson Cottage on Seal Cove Pond. Our second stay since 2016.
The quiet side of Acadia has become a favorite for us and Seal Cove Pond is our preferred location. It’s incredibly quiet, except for the call of the loons, which is one of the draws. Goodson Cottage is light, roomy and comfortable–highly recommend it!
We recently completed a week’s stay at Goodson Cottage for the second year in a row. We came back for all the great features we experienced before: the location on quiet Seal Cove Pond, on the quiet side of the Island, and three floors – a floor for each member of our party to have privacy and comfort. We knew going in that the internet was tricky (past experience!), but it’s vacation, so we were ok with that. The furnishings are comfy and well-cared for; nice enough to be great as a place to relax and be ourselves, not so fancy that we were worried about using anything! One member of our party brought a racing kayak this year, and was happy to have the pond handy for a midnight moonlight kayak paddle…and it was cool enough this week that we got a chance to have a fire in the wood stove. Such a cozy place to stay, and convenient to everything we wanted to do during our week at MDI. Highly recommend!
Our family of four (two adults and two teens) enjoyed a wonderful week at the Goodson Cottage. We were a bit concerned that the cottage would be worn from the pictures, but it was in impeccable shape. The furnishings are older, but the cottage has been very well maintained. And, perhaps more importantly, the cottage was spotless. You could eat off of the floor. We loved all of the games and puzzles. The owner also has organized and labeled everything so we had maps and guidebooks on hand. The WiFi never worked for us, but the realtor told me it was spotty so it wasn’t an issue. Our hotspots worked well and we had cell coverage. Another plus, the water is warm. We loved the swimming deck as well as the kayaks and canoe. As other renters have stated, the house is about 20 minutes from everything, which is pretty much the case with many houses in Maine. There is a lobster place around the corner that also sells fresh fish. Otherwise, it is remote. We purchased groceries right before we got to MDI, fresh fish at the place around the corner, and we were set. Ample cooking supplies, grill, and basic spices. Definitely will go back again.
