About this area
An historic village in the town of Mount Desert, Hall Quarry is minutes from Echo Lake and Long Pond. Many of Acadia National Park’s offerings are nearby, such as the trails of Acadia, St. Sauveur, and Beech Mountains. The towns of Southwest Harbor, Northeast Harbor and Bar Harbor are all within a ten to fifteen minute drive, and a rich history of the local granite industry has left several picturesque ponds and clearings in the area.

We rented Grant Cottage in September and were incredibly happy with our stay. It’s close enough to Acadia and to Bar Harbor that we had plenty of options. It was also amazing placement on the sound that you don’t have to limit your days to one side of the island, you have flexibility to choose.
The cottage had enough space for ourselves and all of our guests. Everyone commented that their beds were comfortable. We loved the large back porch overlooking the sound. We saw plenty of deer enjoying the apple tree and the night sky was clear and stunning in the darkness. Only comment I’d recommend for guests is to 1) bring an HDMI cable if you’d like to connect to the tv and 2) be prepared with your own soap for the showers.
Great time, great views, close to hiking, mountain climbing, and site seeing! Very comfortable!
We were a family of 5: two 60-somethings, and three 20-somethings. Everyone loved our stay at the Grant Cottage. We loved the location, the view, and the many outdoor activities at Acadia. We also enjoyed observing the night sky and are pretty sure we were able to see the Milky Way!
