Bar Harbor’s village and surrounding rural residential areas are a popular destination for visitors to Acadia National Park. The town center offers diverse shops, restaurants and activities. Acadia National Park’s Hulls Cove entrance, as well as other major entrances, are located just outside the village center. Not all properties listed as ‘Bar Harbor’ are actually in the village of Bar Harbor, since the town of Bar Harbor encompasses the northern half of Mt. Desert Island, most of which is quite rural in nature. However, homes within this area are usually between five and fifteen minutes’ drive to the village center.
Our family of 5 stayed at the Hancock House for a week in August 2024. We LOVED this house. The kitchen and downstairs bath are gorgeous. The beds were all super comfy and the towels were fluffy. The house was stocked with everything we needed & more. The location was perfect for exploring Bar Harbor & Acadia. The Knowles Co. was extremely easy to work with and we would absolutely rent through them again.
We definitely enjoyed our stay at Hancock House. The house is comfortable, spacious, quiet, and we’ll-appointed, and the Knowles Co. is extremely helpful and delightful to work with.
The house was very nice and just far enough out of town.. : )
Great location in town, spacious house, comfortable beds and living space, great wifi for working. Was the perfect launching spot for adventures and comfortable for remote work days!
We couldn’t have picked a better place to spend a week in Bar Harbor with our three grown daughters (and one boyfriend) than Hancock House. We shared good food and conversation around the outdoor patio table and walked the nearby shore path each night after dinner. The house was a cozy base for us to reenergize after our days spent hiking, biking, kayaking in nearby Acadia National Park and while enjoying the many charms of Bar Harbor. We have been to Bar Harbor for several summer vacations over the years. This was one of the best. Thanks to the owner for their hospitality and all the little touches that made our stay comfortable. Thanks also to Knowles for their attentive service and consideration.
