Named for its companion home, “Headquarters,” to which “Hindquarters” serves as a guest house, this property offers a tranquil spot for your extended stay on Mt. Desert Island. Featuring lovely views of Somes Sound and Sargent Mountain, the house enjoys a central location close to trail heads, freshwater swimming, and all three of the island’s active village centers. Or simply enjoy the peace and quiet on the covered front porch! Don’t let the fact that this is a guest cottage deter you; “Hindquarters” feels like its own space with a nice sense of privacy for you to enjoy your Acadia escape!

FIRST FLOOR: From the drive, enter to a large eat-in Kitchen with fabulous water views from its picture window, and a door leading to the covered porch extending across the front of the house. A good sized pantry provides additional storage, and a large table comfortably seats six. Down a short hall, one finds a small office with a desk overlooking the water and a small sofa bed for anyone in need of a first-floor bedroom. A Full Bath with shower is located off the den. Just beyond, a large Living Room/Dining Room combination also features water views, a fireplace, TV, piano, and formal dining room table that seats 6 to 8 easily. Doors also open to the covered porch from this area.

SECOND FLOOR: To the left at the top of the stairs is a Primary Bedroom with Queen Bed and en suite Full Bath with shower stall. At the other end of the hall, there is a third Full Bath with combined tub and shower and a stackable washer/dryer unit. This Bath serves two additional Bedrooms: one with Queen Bed and door to balcony overlooking the water, and one with Twin Beds.

OUTDOOR SPACES: Ample lawn and wide open play areas. Shared with “Headquarters,” follow a meadow path to the shoreline, suitable for launching a kayak, an ocean dip, or simply soaking up the views.
