Bar Harbor’s village and surrounding rural residential areas are a popular destination for visitors to Acadia National Park. The town center offers diverse shops, restaurants and activities. Acadia National Park’s Hulls Cove entrance, as well as other major entrances, are located just outside the village center. Not all properties listed as ‘Bar Harbor’ are actually in the village of Bar Harbor, since the town of Bar Harbor encompasses the northern half of Mt. Desert Island, most of which is quite rural in nature. However, homes within this area are usually between five and fifteen minutes’ drive to the village center.
We loved staying at Larkspur. It’s a beautiful home that is probably our favorite of all the wonderful places we’ve stayed during our years in Bar Harbor. It’s a cozy house with lots of space, light and places to gather as a family. We spent many hours cooking in the well-equipped kitchen and gathering in either the warm and spacious dining room or the cozy living room to talk, eat and play games. Additionally, the gardens, parking and location can’t be beat. We highly recommend this house!
We were very happy with the accommodations. This house is very well appointed and tastefully decorated. We loved the location. The third floor could be challenging to older and or less mobile individuals as the steps are very steep and quite narrow. We would definitely stay there again.
We’ve stayed in many rental homes in Maine and elsewhere and Larkspur rates among the very best. Excellent location, very clean, spacious, and outfitted with everything you could need. AC units in each bedroom and a large unit for the first floor helpful during hot spells. Highly recommended.
