Somesville was the first village settled on Mount Desert Island in 1761 and is now a National Historic District. Walking or driving through the village is like stepping back in time, with sights of beautifully preserved examples of early New England architecture and a charming mill pond. The year round population of about 800 residents enjoy close proximity to Acadia National Park, Echo Lake, Somes Pond, and Long Pond. With its central location, all of Mt. Desert Island’s treasures are just a short drive away.
This is the second time we’ve rented Lupine Hill; once with an extended family group and once sharing it with friends/family. It works beautifully for a large or small group. It’s spacious, comfortable, the kitchen has everything you need, the patio is a wonderful spot to hang out surrounded by a beautiful natural garden and flowers. The location is also very convenient for the getting anywhere on the island. We hope to back many times in the future!
Lupine Hill is a lovely home, beautifully appointed and very spacious for a big group. We found everything we needed in the kitchen for meals, had plenty of beds (even a pack-n-play!) and bathrooms for all of our kids and family (10 total), and enjoyed having two living spaces plus the screened porch for spreading out. We really appreciated the cooling systems on the very hot days we were there. The house is convenient to both sides of the island and a short drive to everything we wanted to do. We had no problems at all and Lynn made the rental process easy and straightforward. Highly recommend!
