Situated on a private compound fondly known as “Boss Camp,” North Cottage offers a rare opportunity to experience Mount Desert Island from an exceptionally private waterfront setting. Surrounded on three sides by water, the cottage enjoys beautiful sunrise and sunset views, with outlooks toward Bartlett’s Island and access to the private dock on the property. Just 15 minutes from Southwest Harbor and 25 minutes from Bar Harbor, the cottage is within easy reach of Acadia National Park’s trails, with the western trails just minutes away. North Cottage combines the serenity of a secluded Maine retreat with convenient access to the many experiences of Mount Desert Island. Heated and cooled with a geothermal system and energy recovery ventilation, the cottage is a peaceful and distinctive home base for exploring the island – or simply enjoying the water and views.

FIRST FLOOR: A light-filled, open Living/Dining/Kitchen space is framed by vaulted ceilings and dramatic floor-to-ceiling windows, capturing views of Mt. Desert Narrows and Bartlett’s Island to the west and Squid Cove to the east. Comfortable seating creates an inviting gathering space for conversation or watching television, while the dining table seats eight. The newly refreshed, well-equipped kitchen features seating for three at the counter. A small breezeway leads to a delightful waterside sitting room with tunnel-vaulted ceilings and expansive windows overlooking the water – an ideal spot for reading, relaxing, watching the changing light and tides, or remote work. The room includes a sleeper sofa and a table that converts to a desk, providing space for work, puzzles, or other activities. A half bath completes the first floor.

SECOND FLOOR: A floating staircase leads to the Primary Bedroom with King Bed and en suite Full Bath with double vanity and walk-in glass shower. The Guest Bedroom has a Queen Bed and en suite Full Bath with combined tub and shower. A full-size laundry is also located on the second floor.

OUTDOOR SPACES: Accessed by a sliding door from the Living Room, a stone terrace provides outdoor space for relaxing and dining. Threaded with walking paths and featuring natural landscaping throughout the extensive grounds, the property provides multiple spaces to wander, sit, and renew yourself in this truly peaceful setting. Guests have access to the dock on the property, a perfect launching point for kayaking or a small outboard, or simply for enjoying quiet time by the water. Tenants will also have access to an impressive boathouse for storing bikes, kayaks, or other outdoor equipment.

NOTE: Grounds are shared with the owner’s residence, which may be occupied by the owners during your stay. North Cottage enjoys its own distinct setting and outdoor living areas.
