Ready to step out and play? Less than 1/4 mile walk down the road brings you to lovely Long Pond for swimming, kayaking, or canoeing. FIRST FLOOR: Enter through the gated front garden into the main entry. To the left, an Office serves as a comfortable space with gas powered fireplace. To the right, a warm and inviting Living Room features a gas fireplace, TV, and plenty of seating for relaxing or conversation. Just beyond, a Dining Room space offers formal dining for 6 to 8 people with lovely windows overlooking the side gardens. To the left of the Dining Room is a well-equipped updated Kitchen with table that seats two to three. Through French doors, the Dining Room area also opens to the exquisite Garden Room with floor to ceiling windows on three sides, a door leading to the terraced back gardens, and additional seating. Beware the couch – it’s sure to entice a nap or two while you’re reading! At the foot of the stairs is a shared Full Bathroom with combined tub and shower. Laundry located in basement.
SECOND FLOOR: At the top of the landing from the stairs is a small “Nook” with built-in double bed. This space is not a proper bedroom, but does serve as an additional retreat for those who want to work, read, or absorb themselves in a puzzle or project. Off the central hall are three Bedrooms: one with a Queen Bed, One with Twin Beds overlooking the Garden Room, and the Primary Bedroom with King Bed and en suite Half Bath. These three bedrooms share a spacious and luxurious Full Bath with walk-in tiled shower. Not crazy about sharing your bath with your house guests? Don’t forget about the Full Bath at the bottom of the steps on the first floor, convenient for those staying in the Queen Bedroom.
OUTDOOR SPACES: Magnificent specimen trees and plantings surround the terraced gardens, creating intimate outdoor spaces for relaxing or entertaining. The natural beauty of Maine’s woods (and a few resident chipmunks!) can be enjoyed just a few steps off the back garden area, where a gate leads to trails that thread through the surrounding acreage for exploring, bird watching, or simply finding a cool spot to soak up the mossy woods.

Somesville was the first village settled on Mount Desert Island in 1761 and is now a National Historic District. Walking or driving through the village is like stepping back in time, with sights of beautifully preserved examples of early New England architecture and a charming mill pond. The year round population of about 800 residents enjoy close proximity to Acadia National Park, Echo Lake, Somes Pond, and Long Pond. With its central location, all of Mt. Desert Island’s treasures are just a short drive away.
