Ravenspoint
Northeast Harbor, Greenings Island, ME 04625-
Beds: 1 Queen, 2 Doubles, 2 Singles
Protectively nestled between Northeast Harbor and Southwest Harbor lies beautiful Greenings Island, which was once the home to an 1895 Golf Course and Bathing Club. Today on Greenings Island, only seven properties, including lovely Ravenspoint, enjoy its scenic private acreage and protected Park conservation forest. Located just below the entrance to Somes Sound and just five minutes by boat from the summer community of Northeast Harbor, Greenings Island sits in the epicenter of Mt. Desert Island’s sailing community.
Ravenspoint is a classic Nantucket-style cedar shingle cottage with white trim and granite chimneys. It’s set on nearly 10 acres with more than 1500 feet of ocean frontage, bold rocky shoreline to the north, and a private pebble beach for swimming and picnicking to the south. The front porch of Ravenspoint offers dramatic views up Somes Sound – the only natural fjord on the east coast of the U.S., as well as views to the west of Beech Mountain, Acadia Mountain, and the Claremont Hotel and views to the north of Cadillac Mountain and the Northeast Harbor Yacht Club. And with its western orientation, it takes full advantage of glorious sunsets over the mountains of Acadia National Park. The property also boasts a five-acre field, private granite dock with float, and one mooring. Originally built in 1930, visitors to Ravenspoint are sure to be mesmerized by its grandfathered location just 25′ from the rocky shoreline. Modern conveniences are not overlooked, however. A recent renovation put amenities such as a flat-screen satellite TV, wine cooler, and cappuccino machine in place. Town dock pickup and drop off at the start and end of stay, a one-hour tour of the house and Island.
FIRST FLOOR: The large covered porch welcomes you to Ravenspoint and invites you inside where you’ll find a Living Room and wall of multi-paned windows overlooking the lawn and rock garden. The Library enjoys a fireplace as does the separate Den. The Butler’s Pantry with wine cooler transitions nicely to the Kitchen equipped with high-end appliances and amenities. A Bedroom with full bed and water views sits near a Full Bath with tub and shower. A Half Bath is also available.
SECOND FLOOR: A staircase with window seat leads to the second floor landing. A Bedroom with queen enjoys its own fireplace and two built-in window seats with water views. Full Bath with tub and shower. Two additional Bedrooms, one with a double bed and the other with a set of twins, share access to a second floor porch as well as a Full Bath with tub and shower. Completing the second floor is a fourth Bathroom, Laundry Room, and a back stairway to the Kitchen.
OUTDOOR SPACES: From sunrise to sunset, the lovely covered porch with outdoor dining and sitting areas enjoys unparalleled views of Acadia’s extraordinary landscape. Two bedrooms on the second floor also enjoy views from their shared porch.
EXTRAS: Private deep water dock and mooring. Town dock pickup and drop off at the start and end of stay, plus one-hour tour of the house and Island. Use of 22′ Boston Whaler can be arranged with homeowner.

Northeast Harbor has the advantage of being quite close to Acadia National Park’s Stanley Brook entrance, not to mention the appeal of the grand, historic summer cottage estates, some of which date to the turn of the century. Northeast Harbor offers high end shopping plus some dining opportunities and boasts an active library, community center, public tennis courts and golf course, and a premier marina.
