About this area
Bar Harbor’s village and surrounding rural residential areas are a popular destination for visitors to Acadia National Park. The town center offers diverse shops, restaurants and activities. Acadia National Park’s Hulls Cove entrance, as well as other major entrances, are located just outside the village center. Not all properties listed as ‘Bar Harbor’ are actually in the village of Bar Harbor, since the town of Bar Harbor encompasses the northern half of Mt. Desert Island, most of which is quite rural in nature. However, homes within this area are usually between five and fifteen minutes’ drive to the village center.

We totally enjoyed two weeks at the Rockbilt Loft. On arrival, we were greeted with everything we needed for coffee the next morning, wine and beautiful flowers. The photos in the listing accurately depict the property. The Loft is very comfortable for 2 people. The location is ideal in that it is very close to the Hulls Cove entrance to Acadia and downtown Bar Harbor while not too close that the Island traffic is a problem. The views from the Loft and patio of Frenchman’s Bay are stunning. After exploring Acadia, Bar Harbor and the surrounding towns we enjoyed our afternoons on the chaise lounges on the private and quiet patio every afternoon. My wife and I sipped our soft drinks and ate our snacks while reading, napping, relaxing and trying to capture the many visiting hummingbirds on video. Regretfully, we were not very successful as they are so, so fast. If we were wine drinkers, this would have been the perfect place to enjoy a bottle with cheese. The Loft is sufficiently equipped so that we could have cooked if we had wanted to. We appreciated the full-size clothes washer and dryer, and the fully equipped kitchen. The hosts are very nice and completely unobtrusive. We heartedly recommend the Rockbilt Loft.
This place is perfect to be away from the tourist-filled downtown, to overlook water, to have access to a serene beach. It is easily accessible to Bar Harbor, Ellsworth, Acadia, restaurants, shopping, and more. The host are lovely as well.
