Built at the beginning of the 20th century as part of an Adirondack style compound, this cottage’s interior was redesigned by Modernist Architect Wallace Harrison. Use of local wood and stone make it feel like an extension of the landscape. The ocean side of the cottage has been opened up with large windows which look past blueberry bushes and tall spruce trees out to the Bear Island Light and all of the Great Harbor. Rental of this property includes use of deep-water dock with permission, and an indoor pool. Ariel was originally where the family children lived with their nanny. It continues to have a light hearted ambiance, and is best for those who like a casual lifestyle. The stone beach and ocean are at your feet. You will hear loons and other water birds calling each other, and will have a front row seat for spectacular sunrises and moon rises too. As the property is just outside the harbor, you will see a menagerie of boats of all sizes, sailboats, lobster boats, kayaks, and canoes.

LAYOUT: Living Room with stone fireplace, comfortable wicker chairs, and a daybed where you can stretch out with a book in front of the ocean view.
