Gracing the shores of the Northeast Harbor and capturing wonderful views of the open ocean beyond, this enchanting family summer cottage has seen many recent upgrades. Sit on the rustic porch and watch the boating activity in the harbor, or enjoy some wonderful meals on the stone terrace with an awning for shade. Walk down well maintained paths to the shore for easy access to launch your own kayak from a private beach. Do some beach combing, or simply curl up with a good book in a sunny corner. Just across the road is an access to beautiful Thuya Gardens. There is a terraced trail leading to the garden, which features beautiful annuals and a hand carved gate by local artist Charles K. Savage, plus many hiking trails in the area. Whatever your pleasure, Shell Heap North is sure to delight you in many ways!
FIRST FLOOR: Kitchen with well-stocked pantry has eat-in seating for up to four– the perfect spot from which to enjoy a fresh blueberry muffin and a steaming cup of coffee on a misty Maine morning. Formal Dining Room offers seating for up to twelve and opens to a sunny stone terrace overlooking the harbor. Living Room with views of the harbor. Primary Bedroom with King bed has private Bath with shower. Note: the fireplaces are capped and cannot be used.
SECOND FLOOR: Bedroom with a Queen and a single bed has a private Bath with tub and shower. Two additional Bedrooms, one with Twin Beds, one with a Twin Bed and Child’s cot. Shared full Bath with tub and shower.
OUTDOOR SPACES: Situated amid blooming rosa rugosa and commanding a view of the mouth of Northeast Harbor, let your senses take it all in from Shell Heap North’s stone terrace where you can enjoy every meal of the day under the retractable awning, or its lovely rustic deck.
NOTE: The waterside boathouse suffered significant damage in the January 2024 storms. While every effort is being made to repair/replace the boathouse, its use is not guaranteed for the 2024 season. Sorry, use of owners’ kayaks and rowing skiffs is not included in the rental of this house.

Northeast Harbor has the advantage of being quite close to Acadia National Park’s Stanley Brook entrance, not to mention the appeal of the grand, historic summer cottage estates, some of which date to the turn of the century. Northeast Harbor offers high end shopping plus some dining opportunities and boasts an active library, community center, public tennis courts and golf course, and a premier marina.
