Bar Harbor’s village and surrounding rural residential areas are a popular destination for visitors to Acadia National Park. The town center offers diverse shops, restaurants and activities. Acadia National Park’s Hulls Cove entrance, as well as other major entrances, are located just outside the village center. Not all properties listed as ‘Bar Harbor’ are actually in the village of Bar Harbor, since the town of Bar Harbor encompasses the northern half of Mt. Desert Island, most of which is quite rural in nature. However, homes within this area are usually between five and fifteen minutes’ drive to the village center.

I took my boys and their families on vacation staying in Shipman cottage. The home was clean, welcoming and perfect for our party of 7. The location was the best and we certainly enjoyed family time on the spacious deck.
Shipman Cottage was great. It was perfect in every way for us. The in-town location was great, and the deck behind the house was perfect to let everyone spread out. So glad to have rented from you!
The house was very clean, spacious, excellent location and perfect for our first family vacation with our 9 month old. We had no issues whatsoever during our stay and would definitely book Periwinkle Cottage again!
Great location and wonderful house. Clean and very comfortable. Other than a teapot, the house had everything we needed. We could not figure out the gas fireplace and the heat did not flow as well in the upstairs master bedroom, but these minor issues would not deter us from staying at the Periwinkle Cottage again.
Nice house for a good price in a great location.
