Shore Path Cottage
Bar Harbor, ME 04609-
Beds: 5 Kings, 1 Queen, 1 Double, 6 Singles
Built in 1880, the Shore Path Cottage harkens back to the golden era of the grand cottages. This is the same year the Bar Harbor Shore Path was designated as a public walkway in perpetuity, allowing the public to forever enjoy this lovely walking path along Bar Harbor’s famous shoreline. From the wraparound porch, guests will enjoy the scent of the sea, pretty views of the lawn and Frenchman’s Bay beyond, and the haunting sound of the bell buoys. Although modernized for comfort, the Shore Path Cottage has vintage architectural details including wood paneled ceilings, intricate mouldings and coffered ceilings, and other distinctive touches attesting to the craftsmanship of the era and the emphasis on gracious living. As they did in that bygone era, you can enjoy croquet and other games on the spacious lawn or relax on a lawn chair and watch the parade of sailboats, lobster boats, cruise ships and kayaks.

Bar Harbor’s village and surrounding rural residential areas are a popular destination for visitors to Acadia National Park. The town center offers diverse shops, restaurants and activities. Acadia National Park’s Hulls Cove entrance, as well as other major entrances, are located just outside the village center. Not all properties listed as ‘Bar Harbor’ are actually in the village of Bar Harbor, since the town of Bar Harbor encompasses the northern half of Mt. Desert Island, most of which is quite rural in nature. However, homes within this area are usually between five and fifteen minutes’ drive to the village center.
