Somes Harbor House
Somesville, ME 04660-
Beds: 1 King, 1 Double
Delightful home located off the main road in the historic town of Somesville. This home provides central access to each side of Mount Desert Island, making it perfect for those who want to explore Acadia National Park, Southwest Harbor, Northeast Harbor, and/or Bar Harbor. Just five minutes away you will find both Long Pond and Echo Lake for swimming, kayaking, canoeing, paddle boarding, motorized boat access, and enjoying a day at the beach. This house will serve as a perfect home base from a day of fun as it is equipped yet wonderfully minimalist.
FIRST FLOOR: Kitchen area with granite countertops and cook-top stove. French doors open up into a cheerful Dining Room. Half bath, and a bright and sunny comfortable living room space with access to a spacious private deck.
SECOND FLOOR: Up the stairs will lead you to two charming bedrooms, one with a Queen and the other a King sized bed. Shared between both bedrooms is a beautifully designed full bath with a shower/tub combination.
OUTDOOR SPACES: Enjoy the peacefulness of the private backyard and the pleasant back deck with peeks of water views.
AMENITIES: Well appointed kitchen with dishwasher, microwave, and other common kitchen appliances, high speed internet, satellite and internet TV, washer and dryer, air conditioning units found in closets upstairs, and a propane grill.
NOTE: Due to its location on a main road connecting the north and south ends of the island, there is a fairly steady stream of cars traveling past the house at 25 mph. Although a long fence and shrubbery between you and the road create a nice sense of visual privacy, some background road noise is to be expected.

Somesville was the first village settled on Mount Desert Island in 1761 and is now a National Historic District. Walking or driving through the village is like stepping back in time, with sights of beautifully preserved examples of early New England architecture and a charming mill pond. The year round population of about 800 residents enjoy close proximity to Acadia National Park, Echo Lake, Somes Pond, and Long Pond. With its central location, all of Mt. Desert Island’s treasures are just a short drive away.
First time visiting Acadia and this house was perfect for our group of 4! The beds were so comfortable and the home was charming. The half bath on the main floor was great and the full bath was large with a great vanity which easily accommodated the toiletries of 4 woman! Although there was some road noise, we didn’t find it bothersome during our time at the house. Great location to explore all the area has to offer. Would not hesitate to stay at this home again.
The house and yard were perfect for us. The house was very clean and cheerful. Our two small dogs were safe in the fenced front yard when they needed to be out. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
We really enjoyed our stay at the Somes Harbor House. Great central location, very comfortable and charming house. Loved the back deck and our dog enjoyed it as well. There was an apple tree on the corner of the property and we saw a buck one morning enjoying the fallen apples. Short drive to all the great adventures on MDI. There was some street noise but was fairly warned in the listing and homeowners had solutions. A+ experience.
The home was very well kept and exactly as described in the reviews I read online. We would definitely stay there again.
This house is a charming, comfortable home in a great location. We had family in both Northeast Harbor and Southwest Harbor so we were able to visit them easily. I love to bike the carriage trails and did that almost every day while we were there. A hidden gem is Somes Pond! We swam there a couple times during our stay.
