An historic village in the town of Mount Desert, Hall Quarry is minutes from Echo Lake and Long Pond. Many of Acadia National Park’s offerings are nearby, such as the trails of Acadia, St. Sauveur, and Beech Mountains. The towns of Southwest Harbor, Northeast Harbor and Bar Harbor are all within a ten to fifteen minute drive, and a rich history of the local granite industry has left several picturesque ponds and clearings in the area.
From the moment we entered Somes Sailaway, we had a big smile on our face. The house was extremely comfortable and very well equipped. The views and wildlife amazing! We thank the owners and the folks at Knowles for making it a wonderful vacation.
We had such a fantastic time in Maine. Hiked, road bikes, caught an 80-pound halibut, and kayaked an oyster farm. The weather was perfect for any activity. As you said, it must have been the best weather of the year! And the view…one could never tire of that view!
We spent one week here and loved it! There were 6 of us, and there was plenty of room. We rented kayaks to explore the sound. We also went whale watching and fishing. A successful vacation!
It’s an exquisite place to stay. Could not have been better. Fishing off the docks was amazing.
Our family spent 10 days at Somes Sailaway in August 2022. The house was beautiful; well equipped with plenty of space and gorgeous views of the Sound from inside and from the decks. The lobster pot, grill and fire pit were often used. We loved the water access, with a dock and boat mooring. We sunned, swam and rented a motorboat to explore the Sound and Harbors and watch the seals. Hiking at Acadia Mountain and other trails were nearby. It’s a great location for exploring Acadia, but away from the crowds and on the quiet side of MDI. The Knowles Agent communicated with us frequently and was available for any questions. Our relatives visiting from Europe are already asking when they can return. I can still see the views…
