Bar Harbor’s village and surrounding rural residential areas are a popular destination for visitors to Acadia National Park. The town center offers diverse shops, restaurants and activities. Acadia National Park’s Hulls Cove entrance, as well as other major entrances, are located just outside the village center. Not all properties listed as ‘Bar Harbor’ are actually in the village of Bar Harbor, since the town of Bar Harbor encompasses the northern half of Mt. Desert Island, most of which is quite rural in nature. However, homes within this area are usually between five and fifteen minutes’ drive to the village center.
We had a wonderful time staying here! There was plenty of room for our group and it was a great home base for a week on MDI and in Acadia. Kid-friendly (we loved the tree house especially) and the grounds were gorgeous with fall colors. Highly recommend!
House had plenty of room to spread out and relax. Large yard was great. Watched deer over morning coffee. Convenient to entire island, and good privacy.
September 2021.
We had a great stay at Spring Meadow. We had three families attend the vacation and 4 children were 3 years old and younger. There was plenty of space and we all enjoyed seeing them run around outside and play. The house itself was great and provided enough room and space to accommodate all of us. I would recommend this place to anyone and look forward to returning to the house in the future.
We enjoyed our stay at Spring Meadow. The living area was very comfortable and the kitchen large and well stocked. We had 2 families and it was great that both sets of parents could have a king sized bed (not easy to find a rental with 2, let alone 3 king size beds!) The only real downside was that it was very hot the week we were in Bar Harbor and the upstairs was too warm to sleep comfortably several nights….window fans just can’t keep up when it’s that hot, although the big shady trees helped somewhat.
We also liked the location. The village of Bar Harbor is charming but too crowded for my taste (at least in August) When we went into the village, we parked at the Visitor Center and took the shuttle in, which worked very well. All in all, a great trip!
We were overall very happy with the location and house itself! It was in a perfect spot to be close to the busier downtown, Acadia entrances, and quieter Harbor locations. The three king bedrooms very very spacious and our children enjoyed the bunk beds. The kitchen was awesome for both cooking and hanging out. The outside area gave our kids plenty of room to run around and ride their bikes and they especially liked playing in the tree house! I would highly recommend staying here.
