Summer Winds
Tremont, Seal Cove, ME 04690-
Beds: 1 King, 2 Queens, 2 Singles
Poised in a rural setting on the side of a hill, this delightful, recently renovated home offers beautifully appointed living spaces close to Acadia National Park’s “Quietside” trails and attractions. Escape the crowds without having to drive far to enjoy the peace and quiet of Seal Cove, Western Mountain hiking, and other restful spots, all within a ten-minute drive to Southwest Harbor’s sweet village center with a nice variety of shops and restaurants.
FIRST FLOOR: Enter from the driveway to a large open Kitchen with counter seating for four, small breakfast table for two, large pantry, and doors to a back deck overlooking the back yard. Just beyond the Kitchen is an intimate sitting area for reading, watching TV, or socializing with the cook during meal prep. Doors from this space lead to a three-season porch for outdoor dining and relaxation. Down a short hall, one finds a large laundry closet and three Bedrooms. The spacious Primary Bedroom features a King Bed, amazing closet system and an en suite Full Bath with double vanity and walk-in tile and glass shower. Bedroom 2 and Bedroom 3 (not pictured) each contain a queen bed with large closets, and shared access to a Full Bath with combined tub and shower (not pictured but consistent with the Primary en suite Full Bath).
To the left of the main entry, a short hallway leads past a small Turret Room for either work or relaxation, a Half Bath, and to the “Party Barn” just beyond. Built on the site of the original barn, this commodious room features high cathedral ceilings and post and beam construction, plus a wet bar with mini-beverage fridge and ice maker, sink, and plenty of glassware for entertaining. A magnificent harvest table serves as the dining table for up to 8, possibly more. A large screened TV and comfortable seating for all creates a relaxing space, all highlighted by floor to ceiling windows overlooking yard and wooded hills beyond.
SECOND FLOOR: Stairs lead to a lofted area with Twin Beds overlooking the kitchen, a second Turret Room with desk area for those poor souls who have to have a “working vacation,” and a lofted area with puzzle station and assorted games overlooking the Party Barn living area.
OUTDOOR SPACES: Note that a garage and small guest house are on the property. Guest House may or may not be occupied by the homeowner during your stay, but your privacy is ensured as the two residences are oriented away from each other and have no direct views from one to the other. Surrounding yard area is steeply sloped in sections. Enclosed dog run available for those bringing pets!

The ‘quiet side’ of Mt. Desert Island, which includes Bass Harbor, Tremont, Seal Cove, and Bernard on the southern and western sides of the island, is much more rural in nature and only about twenty to thirty minutes to major park entrances. What Bass Harbor lacks in shopping, it makes up for in seafood restaurants and local color, as this is a village with a true ‘Down East’ flavor, as well as the famous Bass Harbor Head Lighthouse.
Awesome property!
We had an amazing stay in Summer Winds for our trip to Mount Desert Island. This property is drop dead gorgeous, with high end amenities and plenty of room to spread out. My mom appreciated that the bedrooms were on the ground floor, and we all enjoyed the barn/great room for watching wildlife and enjoying the monster TV! Our little dog Ginger enjoyed the freedom of the dog run, and we were all impressed with the high end kitchen fully loaded with everything you need to create a gorgeous meal. Communication with the owners and the property manager was smooth and efficient. We truly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend this beautiful property!
