The Triangle House
Long Pond, ME 04660-
Beds: 1 Queen, 2 Singles
Expansive picture windows, elevated decks, and warm inviting spaces combine to create a unique lakefront experience in this exquisitely designed “Triangle House,” poised on the shores of lovely Long Pond at the tip of popular but private Northern Neck. Water and mountain views greet you from nearly every window, and the dock and float offer convenient access to all that a lakefront setting enjoys. No pretentiousness here – just pure bliss as you seize the opportunity to unwind, unplug, and reconnect with family and nature!
FIRST FLOOR: Enter from the drive to a combined Living, Dining, and Kitchen space featuring a wall of windows with beautiful lake views, wood stove, and table that comfortably seats five (can be expanded to seat more for entertaining). Although the Kitchen’s prep area is a little small, like a ship’s galley, economy of space and great organization create a functional space for any chef. At the other end of the Living Area, a hallway leads past a Full Bath with shower stall to the Primary Bedroom, featuring a Queen Bed and access to a small furnished deck, perfect for a quiet morning coffee or dining for two.
SECOND FLOOR: Stairs lead to a landing with Study and Single Bed that can serve as a third Bedroom in a pinch. Pocket door opens to a proper second Bedroom with Single Bed and spectacular elevated views of the lake and Beech and Western Mountains. Door to extended deck with furnishings, and, of course, fabulous views. A small en suite Half Bath can also be found in this bedroom.
LOWER LEVEL: From the Living Area, a spiral staircase leads to a lower level where Laundry, a second Half Bath, and utility area can be found, along with access to a third outdoor sitting area under cover and path leading to the lake.
OUTDOOR SPACES: Surrounded by mature woods with combined hardwoods, evergreens, ferns, and natural landscaping, this house happily doesn’t include a manicured lawn, but the woods and shoreline provide a nice place to explore for young and old. Short wooded path leads to a rocky shore with dock and float. Canoe and kayak available for tenant use.
PLEASE NOTE: With its elevated decks, circular staircase, unprotected and easily accessible shoreline, and bedrooms separated from the primary bedroom by one floor, this home is not at all suitable for very young children. No TV, but great Internet! Bring your laptop along with your Netflix and Amazon Prime passwords!

Long Pond is the largest freshwater pond on Mt. Desert Island and serves as the reservoir to the village of Southwest Harbor. Swimming, kayaking, and fishing are popular activities on this lovely lake just west of Somesville. Southwest Harbor’s village center is approximately fifteen minutes away, and major park entrances are between ten and twenty minutes’ drive.
We spent two glorious weeks of September here; the views from the dock are soul soothing; we swam, canoed the lake, ran the loop, hiked on nearby trails, bought local produce and goods at Beech Hill and Triple Chick farms, and through FarmDrop, did yoga on the decks. Heaven on MDI.
Unique layout with spectacular lake and mountain views. Many amenities. My guests loved it.
