The village of Seal Harbor has many attributes, including proximity to Northeast and Bar Harbor, a lovely hillside overlooking the quiet harbor and a well-protected public beach. The community abuts Acadia National Park, a significant portion of which was donated by Seal Harbor resident John D. Rockefeller. The Park Loop Road, the Wildwood Riding Stables, historic Jordan Pond House, and the many carriage roads around Day Mountain, Little Long Pond, the Bubbles, and Jordan Pond, are all easily accessible from the village.
We had stayed here a few years ago, and were delighted to find it available again. Perfect for the two of us and our two young adult children. Love the location, the layout of the house, and the well-equipped kitchen. Would happily stay here again if it were available.
Stayed here for a week with me, my husband, our two kids and my parents. It was the perfect setting and a short drive to anything we needed to access on MDI. Pros: there is a half bath in the first floor as well as two full baths. This wasn’t mentioned in the description and it was really nice to have. Close to everything so it was easy to come back for lunch between activities. Comfortable home. Overall we had a great stay. Cons: Parking was difficult. There is a driveway but it’s on a busy turn so it’s hard to back out safely. Grill was not clean so we did not attempt to use. Also there was a watermelon on the counter when we got there that we didn’t touch. Kind of odd.
From The Knowles Company: A watermelon?? That’s a first! We suspect the former tenants left it behind and the cleaners didn’t know what to do with it. Sorry that wasn’t taken a way! Also sorry the grill wasn’t properly cleaned. We will remind the cleaners to address that next time. Yes, that driveway is a little dodgy. The owner finds that backing into it makes things a little easier for getting in and out.
Awesome house. Perfect for three couples. House was well stocked multiple towels etc Close to Acadia and downtown. Hoping to come back next year.
