Somesville was the first village settled on Mount Desert Island in 1761 and is now a National Historic District. Walking or driving through the village is like stepping back in time, with sights of beautifully preserved examples of early New England architecture and a charming mill pond. The year round population of about 800 residents enjoy close proximity to Acadia National Park, Echo Lake, Somes Pond, and Long Pond. With its central location, all of Mt. Desert Island’s treasures are just a short drive away.
Location location location!! Wow, the view is amazing, the kayaking off the dock is easy and fun (seals! herons! eagles!), the swimming delightful. The house is cozy and spacious at the same time, and the deck is simply spectacular. And the Knowles gang and caretakers took great care of us!
Tide Race is an amazing property!! The view of Acadia National Park is amazing from the living room and deck, watching the tide is relaxing and as usual the team from the Knowles Company made everything seamless. We love Acadia and can’t wait to plan our next visit!
The house and location are beautiful. It was so peaceful to sit and watch the water from the dock, the deck, OR from the multiple picture windows. We saw so many different birds and enjoyed the woods. It was delightful
The staff at Knowles were amazing. Thank you so much for everything!
We recently got back from a week at Tide Race. We had 3 generations of our family come together from Virginia to enjoy the beauty of the Maine coast. Tide Race was a beautiful treat for our entire family. My young daughters especially loved the kayaks and we went out on the water every day of our visit (even the one rainy day). It’s proximity to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park were perfect. The views were a wonderful way to wake up every day. We highly recommend this wonderful home.
We stayed for a week with our son, daughter and 2 grandchildren. The views from anywhere in the house or on anywhere on the property were absolutely amazing! We used the kayaks (provided) on a daily basis and made friends with a courious harbor seal. An eagle had a nest on the property which we enjoyed watching as well. The grandkids enjoyed searching for crabs and other sealife at low tide. The property was well appointed and had all we needed. The Knowles Company was attentive to any needs we had during our stay.
