Treehouse
Southwest Harbor, ME 04679-
Beds: 2 Queens
As the name indicates this recently renovated, wood frame cottage in Southwest Harbor is nestled in the trees with a view of the water and a path through the trees to a waterfront deck on Norwood Cove. The property is unique in its placement on 6 acres of shoreline woods, yet within easy 5 minute walk to downtown shops and restaurants. A second three bedroom guest cottage; Pat’s Place, on the same property, can be rented together or separately.
FIRST FLOOR: The first floor offers an open living/dining/kitchen area with cathedral ceiling, lots of windows, and French Doors out to a spacious deck. There is a new Primary Bedroom with Queen bed off the living room with French doors out to the deck. Off the kitchen is a bath with shower only, and a private outside shower deck.
SECOND FLOOR: Upstairs is an open loft with a Queen bed and half bath. Note: the third photo of this bedroom space, which illustrates the loft setting, looks like there are twin beds, but there is, in fact, a Queen.
OUTDOOR SPACES: Spacious deck, small shared shorefront area with Adirondack chairs overlooking peacceful Norwood Cove. Hammock for relaxing under the trees! Outdoor shower. One canoe available for tenant use, shared with neighboring Pat’s Place.
NOTE: Although a wood stove is provided and available for tenants’ use, it requires a smaller than standard stick (14″ instead of 18″). Owner does not provide wood. Two propane-fired wall units, one in the Living area and one in the Primary Bedroom, provide ample heat in the off-season. TV is for streaming only and does not broadcast live TV.

Mt. Desert Island’s second largest village, Southwest Harbor, features a charming Main Street with an appealing assortment of shops and restaurants. The neighboring village of Manset, which is along the southern shore of the harbor, tends to be rural in nature but features a number of excellent restaurants and boatyards, including Hinckley Yacht Yard and Morris Yachts, both of which boast an international reputation. If Bar Harbor is the ‘gateway’ to Acadia, Southwest Harbor is the gateway to Acadia’s westside trails and attractions, including Seawall, Ship’s Harbor, and Echo Lake, all between five and eight minutes from the village center.
This was a wonderful home for our family vacation! Our kids stayed in the loft and we enjoyed the private bedroom. The outdoor shower was a highlight! We hung hammocks in the yard, enjoyed canoeing, and watched the beautiful sun sets by the water. A short walk to Southwest harbor shops and restaurants. Really enjoyed being able to do the short drive to Acadia and Bar Harbor and then return to the privacy and serenity of Treehouse! A magnificent place to spend our vacation!
The view and landscape of this home were beautiful. We loved the privacy that we had, and the view of the harbor. It was a little cold with the smaller heaters, but it still kept us warm enough throughout the night while we were there. It was a great distance (15 minute drive) from Bar Harbor, and cute shops and restaurants nearby.
