Bar Harbor’s village and surrounding rural residential areas are a popular destination for visitors to Acadia National Park. The town center offers diverse shops, restaurants and activities. Acadia National Park’s Hulls Cove entrance, as well as other major entrances, are located just outside the village center. Not all properties listed as ‘Bar Harbor’ are actually in the village of Bar Harbor, since the town of Bar Harbor encompasses the northern half of Mt. Desert Island, most of which is quite rural in nature. However, homes within this area are usually between five and fifteen minutes’ drive to the village center.
Charming, rustic and so peaceful. Beautiful mornings, great sunsets seen from the porch, and, on clear nights, starlit skies. It’s a lovely place. Our third time. If we are fortunate, we will come again.
We loved our time at Two Loons. It’s a beautiful, peaceful location, and the house is charming– one of those places that has good vibes from many years of
family memories being made there. It was convenient to all MDI locations, but we were always happy to get back to Northwest Cove to relax and soak up the atmosphere. We enjoyed swimming in the cove, kayaking around Indian Point, and walking in Blagden Preserve. We were delighted to see seals, porpoises, bald eagles, blue herons, loons, and many other interesting birds. We can’t wait to return to this little slice of paradise!
